Solidarity with Ukraine’s fight for democracy
The attack on Ukraine and the Ukrainian people is an attack on democracy.
Ukraine and its people have been fighting for their self-determination, participation and democracy for many years.
Peace and democracy are both preconditions for strong, stable, and well-functioning societies. These are values to which the entire population of the world is entitled. However, peace and democracy do not come by itself. We must always work to preserve and secure strong democracies and peaceful societies in the world.
Ukraine has for years fought for their right to independence and democracy.
They have fought strong anti-democratic forces from the east, which now have chosen the brutal path of war. Therefore, more than ever, the Ukrainian people need our support and solidarity.
We hope for a peaceful solution soon for the country and its people.
