Countering Democratic Decline – DIPD Programme Report 2018-2021
Democracy is under pressure and must be safeguarded. In DIPDs brand new Programme Report, we are taking stock on the past three and a half years of engagement to strengthen democracy.
It has been a period with unforeseen challenges when it comes to democracy support. We have experienced a rise of autocratisation and a decline in global democracy. At the same time, the world is struggling with wide-ranging effects of the global COVID-19 pandemic.
DIPD strives to support political parties in being more inclusive and more politically and organizationally well-functioning, and we experience that the partnerships are more important than ever.
In the new Programme Report, you can read about how DIPD, the Danish political parties and their partnerships have strengthened core democratic values in 19 countries across 4 continents during 2018-2021. A process that is long and complicated with both opportunities and challenges along the way.
Documenting developments within democracy support and the work of political parties is not an easy task. The report will hopefully provide an insight into the many demanding and creative approaches tested throughout the past years.
