The Conservative People’s Party (Det Konservative Folkeparti) was founded on the basis of its predecessor, Højre (Right), but also on the Free Conservatives and a moderate faction of the Liberal Party (Venstre).
Today, the party is built on a strong belief in the virtues of the free market, and with the traditional focus on social responsibility and conservatism in cultural areas. The Conservative People’s Party is currently supporting the one-party minority government under the Liberal Party.

The Danish Conservative People’s Party (Det Konservative Folkeparti) and one of the key opposition parties in Tanzania, Chama Cha Demokrasia Na Maendeleo (CHADEMA), have partnered since 2013. The current project, which runs until the middle of 2017, seeks to enhance the representation and influence of youth and women in national politics through a strengthening of the women and youth wing of CHADEMA.
