Democratic Transition Support to Myanmar

The political transition in Myanmar was on the agenda at the DIPD August 2012 Board meeting where the Board endorsed a project in support of the democratic transition process. DIPD in May met the Parliamentary delegation from Myanmar and following an explorative visit by DIPD in June to Myanmar a support programme has now been approved. The overall objectives of the support is to facilitate and enhance multi-party dialogue among the parliamentary parties, strengthen the political parties in taking on their new democratic functions and facilitating dialogue and cooperation with civil society organizations.

As a multi-party actor DIPD can make a valuable contribution to the challenging but promising transition process”, says Henrik Bach Mortensen, Chair of DIPD. Read more
